DOCUMENTS AND THEIR EXPIRY
Passport and ID expiry dates for the whole family
A passport cannot be renewed overnight. Yet most households discover an expiry date right after the holiday is booked. For a family of four that is eight documents and eight different dates nobody is keeping track of.
DIRECT ANSWER
How can a family track passport and ID expiry dates?
Record who each document belongs to and when it expires. By default Rodinka then reminds you 180, 90, 30 and 7 days before it expires, so an expiring passport or ID card does not surface a week before the holiday. Documents are visible to adults only, and reminders respect the quiet hours your household sets.
DOCUMENTS AND THEIR EXPIRY
A deadline nobody remembers in time
Documents have an awkward property: five or ten years pass between getting one and needing it again. A calendar reminder does not survive that long, the phone gets replaced and nobody reads the paper in the drawer. So expiry dates tend to be handled under pressure.
Two pieces of information are enough — who the document belongs to and when it expires — as long as something other than your memory is watching them. Rodinka keeps them with the family rather than with one person, and speaks up before it is too late.
Before a holiday
Check every passport in the household on one screen instead of going through a drawer.
Children’s documents
Children’s passports and ID cards expire sooner than yours, and each one shows who it belongs to.
Not only identity documents
A driving licence, a vehicle inspection or an insurance card — anything with an expiry date can be tracked the same way.
Rodinka
How expiry tracking works in Rodinka
Documents are available to adult family members only. The model is built around a single question: what stops being valid soon, and whose is it?
- 1
Record the document
A name, an owner and an expiry date. The issue date and a note about where the document physically lives are optional.
- 2
Let it remind you
By default a reminder arrives 180, 90, 30 and 7 days before the expiry date and on the day itself; once a document has lapsed, Rodinka nudges once a week. You can change the lead times, and reminders respect your quiet hours.

See where things stand
Documents are grouped by what expires soon, what has already lapsed and what is still fine.
Common questions about documents and reminders
How far ahead should a document reminder arrive?
For a passport or an ID card it helps to know several months in advance — processing takes its own time and queues get longer before the summer. Rodinka raises it early rather than in the final week.
Can children see the documents?
No. Documents in Rodinka are available to adult family members only; a child account cannot open that part of the app.
Do I have to upload a scan of each document?
No. A name, an owner and a date are enough to track expiry — a scan is optional. Rodinka is built to remind you of the deadline, not to replace wherever you keep the documents themselves.
